Dr. Manavalan Satyanarayanan joined NGRI in 2004 and has been working on inductively coupled plasma Mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) for application in geochemical sciences and has made notable contribution in the field of Geochemistry for studies related to mineral exploration and environment, in a research career spanning more than two decades. He is an active scientist with inclination towards integrated geological and geophysical investigation for mineral exploration and has been awarded by Indian Society of Applied Geochemists, Hyderabad for "Best contribution in the field of Analytical Geochemistry award in last ten year (2002-12)". His current research work on mineral exploration pertains to studies on petrology and geochemistry of the Precambrian mafic/ultramafic complexes with special emphasis on precious metals (PGE & Au) metallogeny. His focus on developmental research is oriented towards in-situ micro beam mineral analysis for trace elements by Laser Ablation HR-ICP-MS and isotope dilution mass spectrometry for precise determination of trace elements/isotope ratios. Dr.Satyanarayanan is recipient of National Merit Scholarship (Presidency College, Chennai), CSIR-Senior Research Fellowship, BOYSCAST Fellowship, and is reviewer in few peer reviewed journals.
