Project Title:	Magnetic Observatories
Supra-Institutional Project:	To record variations and absolute values of the Earth’s magnetic field, over a long period time and to study the phenomena associated with the Earth’s magnetic field. Contribute to magnetic field measurements for resource exploration, studies of solar-terrestrial physics and the Earth’s interior.

Objectives:

To record the continuous variations and the absolute values of the Earth’s magnetic field, over a long period time and to study the phenomena associated with the Earth’s magnetic field.
To record the rapid variations in the geomagnetic field components and the telluric field components at the usual recording speeds, namely 90mm/hr and 30mm/min.
Additional measurements, under Supra-Institutional Project of NGRI, in the critical regions such as: Southern tip of India and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Modelling of induced response of magnetic variations to the lithosphere in the region of Southern India in addition to the induced affects of the surrounding ocean.

The Supra-Institutional Project project is related to proposed station at Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
