| Project Title: |
Petrology, geochemistry of the mafic - ultramafic and alkaline rocks of Dharwar Craton; Bundelkhand; Central India and Deccan flood basalt province and mineralisation through space and time |
| Project Number: |
MLP-6201 28 (VB) |
| Project Leader: |
Dr. V. Balaram |
| Duration: |
April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2012 |
Objectives
-
To understand the processes responsible for the generation of magmatic Ni – Cu – PGE sulfide ore deposits in the mafic – ultramafic intrusions inparts of Bundelkhand Craton and the Deccan Large Igneous Province. (V. Balaram).
-
To characterize the lithological assemblages constituting the alkaline complexes and the dyke swarms in parts of Gujarat in terms of their distinct mineralogy EPMA and petrological features and geochemistry as indicators of their deep seated parentage. (S.N. Charan).
-
To characterize the geochemical and petrological compositional variability in the different metavolcanic rocks of the Central Indian Shield. (S.H. Jafri).
-
Petromineralogical and geochemical studies (with special emphasis on highly siderophile elements) of the gabbroic and dolerite dyke rocks in the Ambadongar area, Gujarat. (M.V. Subba Rao).
-
To understand the nature of associations of feeder dykes and flows and their inter-relationship in parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat. (D.V. Subba Rao).To generate trace, REE, PGE and isotopic data for the picrites and gabbro intrusives in parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat. (Ramavati Mathur)
