| Project Title : |
Heat Flow, Heat Production and Crustal Thermal Structure of the Indian Shield |
| Project Number : |
MLP-6503 28 (SR) |
| Project Leader : |
Dr. Sukanta Roy |
| Duration : |
April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2012 |
Objectives
- Evaluation of thermal structure of the Indian shield through systematic measurements of heat flow, heat production of rocks likely constituting the crust and other thermo-physical properties of rocks, and their integration with crustal models as derived using other geophysical, geological and geochemical datasets.
- Development of capabilities for modelling complex subsurface thermal regimes and active subduction zones in continental as well as oceanic scenarios.
- Development of observational and interpretational capabilities to advance the geothermics of climate change; constrain surface ground temperature reconstructions by integrating information from geothermal and meteorological observations with other proxy climate-change indicators.
