Objectives:

• Rb-Sr, Sm-Nd and Pb isotopic and geochemical studies on selected alkaline intrusives in the Deccan volcanic

  province to characterize the source compositions of the mantle plume responsible for the formation of this large

  igneous province.

• Age & paleomagnetic studies of selected kimberlite pipes from the Wajrakarur and Narayanpet kimberlite

  provinces to evaluate the position of Indian subcontinent in the Rodinia super continent.

• Age, Sr, C and O isotopic and paleomagnetic studies of Cretaceous sediments from the Cauvery basin to obtain

  the rate of migration and rotational history of the Indian subcontinent during that time.
