Area; Exploration, Assessment and Management of Groundwater Resources

Objectives:

• Objectives of the first component of the project is to delineate sub-trappean sedimentary formations and tectonic features favourable for development and better management of groundwater resources in the semi-arid Pranhita Godavari Rift (PGR) zone along a NE-SW 120 km long profile near Nagpur using integrated Gravity, Magnetic and Electrical resistivity tomography / sounding surveys.

• Objective of the second component is to develop mathematical models to predict water table fluctuations in aquifers due to time varying recharge/withdrawal. This component comes under basic research category.
